This volatile oil, obtained by distilling the resin of certain varieties of pine, evaporates twice as slowly and has a less pronounced matt appearance than

petroleum spirit. It is used to dissolve the top layers of colours. To prevent the turpentine from converting to resin, evaporating and leaving a fatty

deposit, choose a rectified spirit of turpentine. The bottle should be kept closed and protected from light, avoiding long storage periods.
